A record of the search and maybe lessons/tips to others...

Ok, so far it has been a month of full-time job searching. Two interviews and two rejections later, I still don't have a job...the search continues. For the sake of full disclosure, I have been sending out resumes and applications for almost a year...ouch. However, I've only devoted full time efforts to the search since I took the Oregon Bar Exam on July 27th. Here's a list of the jobs I've applied for so far:

Fall '08:
-In-house position with Boise, Inc. (Interviewed and rejected)
-Navy JAG (Interviewed and rejected)
-Idaho Attorney General's Office
-Public Defender's Office in Couerdalene, Idaho
-Public Defender's Office in Canyon County, Idaho
-Numerous private firms in Portland and surrounding area.

Spring '09:
-More private firms on Oregon.
-Law School Account Representative for LexisNexis Research Group.
-Oregon Attorney General's Office
-Private criminal defense firms in Idaho.
-MANY Human Resources positions in Idaho, Utah, Texas and Oregon.
-I even dropped in a few applications to be a Park Ranger :-).

Summer '09:
-Oregon Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and Tax Court clerk positions.
-Coo's County District Attorney's Office (Interviewed and rejected)
-Clackamas County District Attorney's Office (Interviewed and rejected)
-Washington County District Attorney's Office
-Multnomah County Court judicial clerk positions (three openings)
-More HR positions in Idaho, Utah, Montana and Oregon.
-Probation and Parole Officer spot in Albany, Oregon.
-Patrol Officer in Salem, Oregon.
-Patrol Officer in Clackamas County, Oregon.
-Probation and Parole Officer in Marion County, Oregon.
-Temporary Relief Officer in Juvenile Corrections, Marion County.
-Environmental Crimes Investigator for the E.P.A. in Montana, Colorado and Washington.
-Employment Policy Analyst for the State of Oregon Department of Human Services.
-Investigator for the Oregon Secretary of State.

The search has been long...I send in at least five complete applications for a variety of jobs each week. Some take longer to assemble than others, and each one has part of my hope attached to it. This process has become quite depressing, and it's looking like I will be forced to find some temporary work to get by or start preparing to build my own law practice. If I can't find a job, it definitely won't be for lack of trying...
